Looking Back On 2024
A YEAR IN HIGHLIHGHTS
ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM
CHAGALL: LOVE, VISIONS AND DREAMS
Showcasing the final prints created by the artist in his lifetime, our May exhibition Chagall: Love, Visions and Dreams presented works that were not only monumental in size but also in significance. The Fourteen Large Lithographs are dreamy compositions displaying the best of Marc Chagall’s imagery and magical scenes. Many of the works selected for this show have since been sold, but a handful are still available and can be viewed here.
THE MODERN MUSE
This was undoubtedly one of the most captivating shows of the year here at Shapero Modern. This autumn showcase of muses brought visitors face to face with some of the most iconic portraits in modern and contemporary art, featuring the works of illustrious artists Pablo Picasso, David Hockney, Andy Warhol, and Banksy, among others. The exhibition delved into the profound relationship between artist, muse, and inspiration, illustrating not only how their muses inspire artists but also how they become muses for one another. Only our second exhibition since moving to our new location on New Bond Street, this show was an exciting opportunity to highlight a selection of portraiture that is rich in both history and symbolism.
MILESTONES
A significant milestone for Shapero Modern this year has been our move to a new gallery on the prestigious New Bond Street, where we proudly joined our friends at Shapero Rare Books. This relocation marks an exciting new chapter for our gallery, allowing us to expand our presence in one of London's most renowned art districts.
