Overview
Howard Jeffs was born in 1944 in the United Kingdom. He pursued his art education at Chelsea School of Art in the 1960s, where he developed his foundational skills and began experimenting with various mediums. His early work was heavily influenced by his engagement with photography, which he showcased in exhibitions at the Photographers' Gallery and the Serpentine Gallery in the early 1970s.
 
Jeffs' career gained momentum in the 1960s when he became associated with the emerging movements of that era. His unique approach, characterised by innovative printmaking techniques such as etched lino and monotypes, set him apart from his contemporaries. 
 
Jeffs' versatility as an artist is reflected in his wide-ranging portfolio, including printmaking and photography. His use of etched lino and monotypes has been particularly groundbreaking and has influenced subsequent generations of artists.
