Spotlight on Marc Quinn
As part of our vibrant exhibition with LITO Editions, we are spotlighting British artist Marc Quinn and his latest edition, ‘NATURENOW. Thanks to the Insects (Lotus)’. Marc Quinn's piece hangs alongside works by other ground breaking contemporary artists such as Douglas Gordon, Peter Halley and Donald Sultan, all created using the high rendering technology of LITO Editions, which is able to capture textures, reliefs, brushstrokes and unconventional materials.

Marc Quinn is a pioneering contemporary artist who explores what it is to be a human in his work. Often reflecting on nature, identity and beauty, and full of art historical references, Quinn tries to depict and respond to current social history. The artist’s practice is wide and varied, encompassing sculpture, painting and drawing. Often utilizing unconventional materials, Quinn is most well-known for his self portrait series ‘Self’ in which his bust is made up entirely of his own blood.

‘NATURENOW. Thanks to the Insects (Lotus)’ is part of the NATURENOW series in which various screenshots from Quinn’s iPhone are magnified and overlaid with a broken screen. LITO Editions had the privilege to collaborate with Marc Quinn on this special edition, on the occasion of his 2024 exhibition 'Light into Life' at Kew Gardens in London.

The shattered glass brings the viewer closer to the virtual world, breaking down the physical boundaries between online and reality. In doing so, Quinn asks us if there is even a difference between the digital and physical reality anymore as the two are increasingly tangled and intertwined. The background of a lotus flower urges the question more forcefully as the natural world is increasingly viewed through technology and is simultaneously destroyed by it.
