Frieze Masters 2025
Shapero Modern & Shapero Rare Books are honoured to be participating in the 2025 edition of FRIEZE MASTERS, located in the north-east corner of London's Regent's Park.
This year, Shapero Modern's Frieze Masters stand will be dedicated to showcasing Joan Miró's livre d’artistes alongside his large-scale carborundum prints. The exhibition will explore the depth of Miró's innovation in printmaking, highlighting his contributions to both fields during the later stages of his career. Joan Miró, a pivotal figure in 20th-century art, is renowned for his surrealistic visions, but his work in printmaking, particularly with livre d’artistes and innovative carborundum prints, has not been as well explored in major exhibitions. We shall address this gap by presenting a curated selection of these works, providing insight into Miró's creative process and his engagement with different mediums. In addition to the central display of a comprehensive collection of books where Miró’s illustrations are central, showcasing collaborations with poets like Paul Éluard and Tristan Tzara, we will also feature a private collection of large-scale carborundum prints from the late 1960s and 1970s, showcasing the texture, depth, and colour Miró achieved with this striking technique.
This theme will be continued with a display at our New Bond Street gallery throughout Frieze Masters.
